PAINT SHOP PRO TUTORIAL "GLASS TEXT OVERLAY"

The start of this tutorial I've blatantly ripped-off from T. Micheal Clark . His tutorials are excellent!

Start with a graphic in 16 million colors.

Now, create a new graphic with the same dimensions as your photo or design. In this new graphic we need to add some text. I have the background color set to white and the foreground set to a dark blue. After selecting the text tool, find a font that will allow a large part of your photo to show through.I chose Comic San MS and set it to bold at 76 points. You need to have the anti-alias off!Right-click to de-select.

Okay, here comes the trick(s). There is a small L-shaped two-headed arrow with the foreground/background swatch.Clicking on this swaps the foreground and background colors. Click on this arrow so that the foreground color becomes white and the background changes to blue.

Now from the menu select "SELECTIONS">>"SELECT ALL", then select "EDIT">>"COPY". Make the original graphic the current graphic by clicking in its menu bar. Select "EDIT">>"PASTE">>"AS TRANSPARENT SELECTION". You should see the graphic through the text, like this:

Thanx tmc, now to expand on this technique and create a glass text over the top of the graphic.

From the menu select "SELECTIONS">>"SELECT ALL">>"Modify">> "Transparent Color" select White. Now just the text should be selected. From the menu select "Colors">>"Grey Scale".Increase color depth to 16 million. Your text should look like this:

From the menu select "SELECTIONS">>"SELECT ALL">>"Modify">> "Transparent Color" select White. Now just the text should be selected. From the menu select "Colors">>"Colorize".I set Hue at 155 and Saturation at 255.Swap foreground and background colors. Your text should look like this:

From the menu select "SELECTIONS">>"SELECT ALL">>"Modify">> "Transparent Color" select White. Now just the text should be selected. From the menu select "Image">>"Special Effects">>"Add Drop Shadow". I set the offsets at 3 and 3.If you repeat this you end up with glass that's twice as thick. Your text should look like this:

From the menu select "SELECTIONS">>"SELECT ALL">>"Modify">> "Transparent Color" select White. Now just the text should be selected. Then select "EDIT">>"COPY". Re-open the original graphic and select "EDIT">> "Paste">>"As New Selection" Viola! Some highlights would be nice here, I'll leave that up to you!
