Paint Shop Pro Tutorial "Inner Bevel"

Picture of Step 1 Open a new picture with a black background and colors set to 16 million. Set foreground color to the a very dark color. I used blue(R=0, G=0, B=128). Draw a letter in a font with symetrical widths. I used Arial (regular style) with a font size of 120 (you must type in sizes larger then 72). Antialias needs to be checked. I recommend doing a letter at a time and then putting the letters together to form words, because we will be featuring very large and we don't won't overlap.
Picture of Step 2 With the letter still selected, from the top line menu click "Selections" then "Modify" then "Feather". Set "Feather" to 40. Click OK.
Picture of Step 3 Swap foreground color and the background color by clicking the double headed arrow on the "color swatch". Press the "Delete" key 6-7 times or until the selection is almost fill with the dark blue.
Picture of Step 4 You will repeat this step.

Using the "Magic Wand" with tolerance set to zero and feather set to 2, click the center of any blue section (meaning click the middle of any "leg" of the letter not the middle of the letter). "Feather" is the trick to this technique. It will allow us to select deeper and deeper into the letter providing the "bevel". Now change the dark blue to a slightly lighter blue (B=140). Press delete 1-2 times.
Picture of Step 5 Repeat the last step changing the blue to a lighter color each time and reselecting with the magic wand. When you select with the magic wand, be sure to select the middle of the "legs". Keep going until you have a very thin selection. At this point you will want to pick a near white color (highlighting). Finally, when you have a good bevel goto [image > normal filters > blur more]. This blends all the colors together.
