The Never Ending Tutorial

Well, not exactly

Picture of Step 2    Picture of Step 3    Picture of Step 4 First we need a pipe. Open a new image 100 x 400. Using the Rectangle Selection Tool, select half of the image. With Black as the background and white as the foreground, paint the selection with linear gradient. Invert the selection [selection > invert] and paint the other half in the opposite direction (right click).
Picture of Step 5 Enlarge the canvas to 400 x 400 with image centered [image > enlarge canvas]. This is "IMAGE-1".

Make a copy and paste it as a new image. This is "IMAGE-2".
Picture of Step 6 Rotate "IMAGE-2" 90 degrees left or right.
Picture of Step 7 Using Arithmetic set to Lightest, add "IMAGE-1" and "IMAGE-2" together. This is "IMAGE-3".

Make a copy and paste it as a new image. This is "IMAGE-4".
Picture of Step 8 Rotate "IMAGE-4" 45 degrees left or right. Notice the image size grow. We need to reduce it back to 400 x 400. Using the magic wand with no tolerance and no feather, select the black around the cross. Invert the selection and then Crop. Enlarge the canvas to 400x400.
Picture of Step 9 Using Arithmetic set to Darkest, add "IMAGE-3" and "IMAGE-4" together.
Picture of Step 10 For more fun, use Arithmetic set to Lightest and add "IMAGE-3" and "IMAGE-4" together again. This is "IMAGE5". Download the zipped selection below, unzip it into your PSP directory. Load the selection onto "IMAGE5".

North Star Selection
Picture of Step 11 With the star selected, copy it and paste as a new image. Resampling down helps clean the edges.
Picture of Step 12 For some holiday fun, apply circle deformation to "IMAGE5".

NOTE: Make sure you deselect the North Star first.
Picture of Step 12 Yeah, yeah more star fun, apply circle deformation to "IMAGE3".
Picture of Step 12 Make a copy and rotate it 45 degrees left or right. Using the magic wand with no tolerance and no feather, select the black around the cross. Invert the selection and then Crop. Enlarge the canvas to 400x400.
Picture of Step 12 Apply Arithmetic set to Lightest on the two stars.
Picture of Step 12 Once again, apply Circle Deformation.
Picture of Step 13 For a nice column, add borders (about 40) to the top and bottom of "IMAGE1". Apply circle deformation. It leaves little jaggedies on the top and bottom but are easy to remove.
Picture of Step 12 Rotate it 45 degrees left or right. Crop it tight with the magic wand. Make a copy and mirror it.
Picture of Step 12 Apply Arithmetic set to Lightest on the two columns.
Picture of Step 12 What the hell, apply Circle Deformation. You'll need to crop it tight first to get the bells.
