Start with any size graphic in 16 million colors. Goto "Colors">"Load Palette" and
load the Netscape palette. Click on the
"Color Swatch". This will bring up the palette.
Open another instance of Paint Shop, ease up to "Capture">"Setup" set it to
"Capture"= "Object","Activate Capture Using"= "Right Click", "Delay"= "0 sec"
no "Options". Click "Capture Now". Get over the palette and right-click then
left-click. Close the first copy of Paint Shop.

Open a new image in 16 million colors, 2 pixels by 2 pixels. Zoom in to the max.
Using the "Dropper" tool, choose a foreground color from the image of the Netscape
palette by left-clicking. Then choose a background color by right-clicking on another
color. Click on the "Paint Brush", "Brush Type"= Normal, "Size"= 1, "Shape"= Round,
"Paper Texture"= None. Now paint the 4 pixels in the two colors like the pattern
shown. Left-clicking for the foreground color, right-clicking for the background color.
|
|
To use your new color, click on the "Flood Fill" tool, "Match Mode"= RGB Value, "Tolerance"=
(depends), "Fill Style"= Pattern, "Options" set to "New Pattern Source"= the 2x2 image.
Paint your image or selection. You now have a "Hybrid Color" that won't be "Dithered"
on 8-bit machines.

This is what a similar graphic, done in an "un-safe" color, might look like to someone with
an 8-bit machine. This tip could be helpful to CD designers and Interface designers too.
