Paint Shop Pro Web Tip "Progressive JPEG"

Picture of Save As Draw or pick a picture in 16 million colors, preferably not an existing JPEG as re-saving will diminish quality with every save. If you do want to convert an existing JPEG, make a copy first to use for experimenting and open it each time you wish to do a save rather then saving it over and over. From the top line menu click "File" then "Save As". Select JPG from the drop down for "Save As Type". To make it a progressive JPG select "Progressive Encoding" from the drop down for "Sub Type". In the same window click on "Options" to change the compression rate.
Picture of File Preferences To set the compression rate, change the "Compression Level" to a higher number for more compression and less quality and a lower number for less compression and higher quality. I find "10" to be a good all-round number, but it's your call. Try some different settings and see the results, just remember to revert back to the original each time.
