Bearing Release High Pressure Launcher

Purpose: Allow for the release of a high pressure rocket with a 35mm nozzle without having to use an external lip for the catch which in turn reduces drag.

Launcher Description: Anything that holds pressure is steel, 1" x 8' launch tube, 5 gallon fat tank, doubled sealed, remote fill/release/purge.

The 3 bearing release sections shown lined up. Bearings not visible. Note the 2 holes in each section. Steel cable runs thru those for hold down on the launcher.
Inside view showing the 7/16 in. steel bearings embedded in the sections.
Completed sub-assembly and relative size.
The release coupling, bearing release sections and 35mm nozzle together. In order outside to inside.
Completed bearing release assembly on the launcher.
Rendering of the nozzle showing position on the rocket and catch holes.
Launcher's fat tank and CO2 inflator connected with high pressure hose with quick disconnect.
Launcher's 200psi gauge and 150psi safety value also used for remote release and purge. Heavy duty ring replaced whimpy one that came with.
Me with the completed launcher. I'm 1676mm (5'6"). The spiraling seen in the launch tube is an effect. The launch tube is 2311mm x 34mm. Computed volume (rocket + tank + plumbing - tube thickness) = 21.57 liters (5.7 gal).
